✍As'salamu Alaykum my brothers and sisters in Islam.

🌴 *PERFORMING PRAYER*

*Praise be to Allah Almighty. We send blessings and salutation upon our beloved prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.*

We will describe the prayer below as though you are praying on your own.

 ✍👇
*NOTE:* When you are reciting anything in prayer, you do all of it quietly except for the following: In the first and second rakaats, when reciting Surah Al-Fatiha, “Ameen” and another Surah, you say it out loud if you are performing either Fajr, Maghrib or Isha prayers. If you are performing Dhuhr or Asr prayers, everything is said quietly, in all rakaats.

*(i)* The first rakaat

*(1)* You start, as described above, by standing and facing Qibla. You should look down at the point where your head will prostrate and you should look at this spot throughout the prayer. Your legs are shoulder-length apart.

(NOTE: If you are praying in congregation, standing in a row with other men, your feet should be touching the edges of the feet of the Muslim either side of you.)

*(2)* Raise your hands to your shoulders and say *“Allahu Akbar”* Your prayer has begun and you should try not to respond to distractions or people calling you, unless it is an emergency

*(3)* Lower your hands and place them on your chest, your right hand over your left hand.

*(4)* Begin by reciting a Dua – This is only done in the first rakaat and not any other rakaat. A recommended Dua is as follows:

👉 *“Subhana kalla humma wa bihamdika, wa tabarakasmuka, wa ta’ala jadduka, wa la ilaaha ghayruk”*

      [Abu Dawood and Haakim]

*(5)* Then seek refuge with Allah by saying the following- This is only done in the first rakaat and not any other rakaat:

👉 *“Aa-oodhobillahi minash-shaytaan nir-rajeem”*

    [Abu Dawood, Haakim, Ibn Maajah]

*(6)* Then say,
👉 *“Bismillah-hir Rahman-nir Raheem”*

     [Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad]

*(7)* Then recite Surah Al-Fatiha

*(8)* Then say *“Ameen”*

*(9)* Then recite any other surah of the Qur’an.

*(10)* Having finished the surah, pause for a moment. Then raise your hands to your shoulders and say “Allahu Akbar”

       [Bukhari and Muslim]

*(11)* Then bend down and bow. This is called Rukoo. You grip your knees with your hands and keep your back straight and level and horizontal. Do not drop your head nor raise it.

[Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood].

*(12)* Whilst in Rukoo, you say the following three times.

👉 *“Subhana rabiyall-adheem wa bihamdihi”*

*(13)* Then you stand up straight again. As you move back to a standing position, you say the following

👉 *“Sami-Allah huliman hamida”*

*(14)* As you move back into a standing position, you also raise your hands to your shoulders.

*(15)* When you are standing up straight, you say the following:
👉 *“Rabbana walakal hamd”*

*(16)* Then you say *“Allahu Akbar”* and prostrate on the floor. This is called sajda or being in sujood.

👉 When you go down, you place your hands down before your knees. Your hands are place either side of
your head, near to your ears and shoulders. Your fingers should be closed and not spread out and pointing in the direction of Qibla. Your nose and forehead should be firmly on the ground.
👉 Your knees and toes are also firmly on the ground. Your toes should be pointing towards Qibla.
👉 Your heels should be together.
👉 Your forearms should not be on the floor but raised slightly away from the floor. Your forearms should also be away from your sides

  [Bukhari and Muslim and others].

*(17)* Whilst in sujood, say the following three times:
👉 *“Subhana Rabi-yall ‘aala wa bihamdihi”*
👉 *Whilst in sajda, you can make as many duas as you want and ask Allah for things.*

*(18)* Then say *“Allahu Akbar”* and rise from sujood and go into an upright sitting position. In this position, you should sit with your left foot down but your right foot upright, with your toes pointing towards Qibla. You are still looking at the spot where your head has prostrated. Your back is straight. The palms of your hands are on your knees.

*(19)* Whilst sitting, you recite the following:
*“Rabbi, ghfer lee, ghfer lee”*

👆Many people don't know the above Dua. So here it is today.

*(20)* Then you say *“Allahu Akbar”* and go into sujood for a second time.

*(21)* Whilst in sujood, say the following three times:
👉 *“Subhana Rabi-yall ‘aala wa bihamdihi”*
👉 *Whilst in sajda, you can make as many duas as you want and ask Allah for things.*

*(22)* Then you say “Allahu Akbar” and return to a sitting position for a moment.

*(23)* Then you return to a standing position. To stand up, you get up by clenching your fists and supporting yourself on them on the ground, before standing up. You stand with your hands on your chest and your right hand over your left hand. This is the end of the first rakaat (one unit of prayer is now complete).

*(ii)* the second rakaat

The second rakaat is the same as the first rakaat except for a few differences.

*(24)* Start the second rakaat by reciting Surah Al-Fatiha. After this, say “Ameen” and then recite any other Surah of the Qur’an and repeat just like you did in the first rakaat.

👉 But whilst sitting, your raise the index finger on your right hand. pointing it forwards.

*(25)* Whilst sitting and pointing your finger, you recite the following, which is called Tashahhud.

🌴 *“At-tahhyyatu lillahi was-salawatu wattayyibbatu. As -salaamu ‘alayka ayyuhan-nabiyyu wa rahma tullahi wa barakatuhu. As-salaamu ‘alayna wa ‘ala ‘ibadil-la his-salihin. Ash-hadu al la ilaha illal-lahu wa ash0hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluhu.”*

*(26)*You now lower your finger down.

*(27)* What happens next is dependent upon whether you are performing a prayer that has 2 rakaats, 3
rakaats or 4 rakaats.

👉If you are performing a prayer that only has 2 rakaats, go on to step 28.

👉 If you are performing a prayer that has 3 rakaats, you say “Allahu Akbar” and stand up, with your hands on your chest – your right hand on your left hand. You now perform one more rakaat. So repeat just like the second rakaat. Then you go onto step 28.

👉If you are performing a prayer that has 4 rakaats, you need to perform 2 more rakaats. So you say “Allahu Akbar” and stand up, with your hands on your chest – your right hand on your left hand. You now repeat another two rakaats like the first and the second rakaat and then go on to step 28.

*(28)* You are sitting and have put your finger down after reading the Tashahhud. You now invoke the Blessings of Allah on the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) by reading the following:

🌴 *“Allahumma salli ‘alaa Muhammadin wa ‘alaa aali Muhammadin kamaa sallayta ‘alaa Ibraheema wa ‘alaa aali Ibraheema, innaka Hameedum Majeed. Allahumma baarik ‘alaa Muhammadin wa ‘alaa aali Muhammadin kamaa baarakta ‘alaa Ibraheema wa ‘alaa aali Ibraheema, innaka Hameedum Majeed.”*

29. After this, you can recite any supplication duas you like.

*(30)* When you have finished reciting your duas, you now end the prayer with Tasleem. This is done by first turning your head to your right side and saying the following:
👉 *“As'salaamu Alaykum*
              *Warahmatulah”*

*(31)* Now turn your face to your left side and say the following:
👉 *“As'salamu Alaykum*
              *Warahmatulah”*

✍👇
Your prayer is now complete.

👆All the above is an explanation of the basics of prayer. There are additional duas and recitations that you can recite at different stages of the prayer. We won’t go into these additional things now, to avoid confusion for people. If there is anything in the explanation of prayer above, which is confusing, please let me know.

🌴 *O Allah! Help us and protect us from the devil and grant us the strength to fulfil our Prayers with concentration. O Allah! Accept our prayers and make our prayers a witness for us and not against us. Aameen*
~~~~
✍ As'salamu Alaykum my brothers and sisters in Islam.
Continuation on our topic:
   🌴 ```How to pray:``` 🌴
*Praise be to Allah Almighty. We send blessings and salutations upon our beloved prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.*
✍ When praying, our clothing should be clean. For a man, his shoulders need to be covered. Umm Hani
(radiyAllahu anha) reported that the Prophet peace be upon him wrapped his body with a single garment and crossed its ends over his shoulders
            [Bukhari and Muslim].
✍ When praying, your awra should be covered. Awra is that part of the body which should be covered and not shown publicly. For men, it is between the navel and the knee and for the woman, it is everything except the face and hands. Clothing should not contain pictures of living things. The rules of clothing for women still applies (we have not described these rules here but there are many scholars that can help women to know what the ruling of dresses).
👉If you are praying inside (eg. home, Masjid, other building), shoes are always taken off before praying.
🌴 Helpful tip: Ensure that you wear clothes that will not reveal any part of your awra, when you are performing prayers. For example, the fashion nowadays is for men to wear jeans that hang very low around the waist. This has the effect that when a man bends over, eg. for prostration, then the skin between his waist and the top of his behind becomes exposed to the public.
🌴GOING TO THE MASJID
Performing the obligatory prayers in the Masjid is a duty that Muslim men should do [Bukhari and Muslim], whenever possible (without feeble excuse as well). It is not as much of an obligation for women to pray at the Masjid.
👉 Enter the Masjid with the right foot first (when you leave, leave with the left foot first). When you enter the masjid, you should pray two rak’at before sitting [Bukhari]. In addition you should not raise your voice in the masjid
                     [Bukhari]
However, Abdullah ibn Umar (radiyAllahu anhu) narrated, ‘The Prophet (Peace be upon him) used to ask the Mu’adhin on every cold and rainy night, to announce, “Pray in your houses.”‘
           [Bukhari and Muslim].
The Mu’adhin is the person who makes the Call for Prayer.
🌴 PRAYING AT HOME
If you are praying at home, ensure there are no pictures or statues in the room you are praying in.
🌴PRAYER IN CONGREGATION
Prayer in congregation is highly recommended. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, *“Prayer in congregation in superior by 27 degrees to prayer performed individually.”*
             [Bukhari and Muslim]
✍ PRAYING AT THE PRESCRIBED TIMES
👉There are prescribed times for prayer (as described in Bukhari). The five obligatory prayers (ie. the prayers that you Must do) are:
1⃣ Fajr (morning prayer)
This is between the break of dawn and sunrise
2⃣ Dhuhr (noon prayer)
This starts when the sun declines from the meridian and ends when the shadow of an object is the same as the length of that object.
3⃣ Asr (afternoon prayer)
This starts from the end of Dhuhr up until sunset.
4⃣ Maghrib (prayer after sunset)
This starts from sunset and ends with the disappearance of the red line from the horizon.
5⃣ Isha (night/evening prayer)
This starts when Maghrib ends and remains until the start of Fajr prayer.
✍👇
To make it easier for you to know what the times are, simply get hold of a prayer timetable from your local Masjid. There are three forbidden times for prayer. These are:
1⃣ When the sun begins to rise until it is fully up
2⃣ When the sun is at its height at midday til it passes the merdian
3⃣ When the sun draws near to setting, til it has set.
      [Narrated from Muslim]
👉However, if you have missed an obligatory prayer, you are allowed to pray this, even at the forbidden times. This is because the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said, *“Whoever has forgotten the prayer should pray it whenever he remembers it.”*
           [Bukhari and Muslim]
To be continued in shaa Allah.....
Don't forget to share this message as much as possible to share in on the reward and also to inspire an amazing sunnah revival.
🌴    HOW TO PRAY    🌴
           *CLEANLINESS*
*Praise be to Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) who ordained As-salaat (Prayer) as an act of worship on His servants, and may the utmost peace and blessings of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) be upon His prophet who taught the Ummah how best to perform the prayer.*
Firstly, a Muslim must be clean and have washed themselves. There are two types of washing: Ghusl
(basically having a bath/shower) and Wudhu (ablution).
GHUSL (Bath/Shower)
You must do Ghusl if any one of the following conditions apply (and before performing prayer):
*After marital relations* – Ghusl must be performed when either:
👉if semen is emitted (a thick white liquid in the case of a man and a fine yellow liquid in the case of a woman)
👉if a man has penetrated his wife (in this case, it doesn’t matter if semen had been emitted or not)
👉 [The evidence for this is in Sahih Muslim]
👉After a menstrual period (for women) When a woman’s post natal bleeding has stopped
👉When a non-Muslim embraces Islam
Ghusl is done in the following way:
1⃣ Make intention to perform Ghusl
2⃣ Say “Bismillah”
3⃣ Wash your hands three times
4⃣ Wash your private parts and around that area (use your left hand, not your right)
5⃣ Perform Wudhu (see below) – except that you do not need to wash the feet at this stage
6⃣ Pour water over your head three times
7⃣ Pour water over your whole body and rinse yourself with your hands (wash yourself beginning with the right hand side first)
8⃣ Wash your feet
9⃣ [the above was reported by Ahmad and Muslim and others]
💧   *WUDHU (Ablution)*  💧
Wudhu is performed if any of the following conditions apply (and before performing prayer):
👉After sleeping
👉After visiting the toilet, ie. if anything comes out of the two private parts. You must clean your private parts with water after this.
👉After sexual discharge (this is different from semen – it is the fine fluid that comes out after a wet dream)
👉After passing wind
👉After becoming unconscious.
🌴  *Wudhu is done in the following way:*
*(1)* Make intention to perform Wudhu
*(2)* Say “Bismillah”
*(3)* Wash your hands three times, up to and including the wrists
*(4)* Rinse the mouth three times.
*(5)* Rinse inside your nostrils three times.
*(6)* Wash your face three times (for men: including the beard)
*(7)* Wash your arms three times, beginning with your right arm, from your wrist up to and including the elbow.
*(8)* Wipe your hair with water.
*(9)*Wipe your ears with water three times, including the inside of your ears.
*(10)* Wash your feet, beginning with your right foot, up to and including the ankles, three times.
*(11)* After completing this, you say *“Ash-hadu an lailaha illallahu, wahdahu laa shareekalahu, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasooluhu”.* This means “I bear witness that none has the right to worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slace and Messenger.”
[As reported in Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, Ahmad and others]
To be continued in shaa Allah.....
*Here are some important facts about the first Juz that you may not know:*
1. It is called Bismillahi of Alhamdulillahi.
2. It covers a total of 141 verses from Surah Baqarah which is the longest Surah of the Quran
3. Surah Al-Fatiha, which muslims recite daily in their prayers is considered by many as not part of any Juz, though some include it in the first Juz of the Quran
4. All the verses in this Juz are believed to have been revealed in Mediinah and there main focus is on the nature of Humanity
5. It covers the story of the creation of Adam, and Satan's disobedience to God
6. It also covers at length the example of the children of Isreal. How ungrateful they were to the favours their Lord had bestowed upon them.
7. The story of the Calf, from which Surah Baqarah gets its name is also covered halfway of this Juz
8. Towards it's end, the Juz makes mention of the affair of prophet Sulaiman and explains how withcraft and socery began.
9. The Juz towards the end makes mention of the family of prophet Abrahim, his prayer for the city of Mekka, and how a proper will is made; citing the example of Jacob's last words to his sons.
10. The Juz ends with declaration that each nation will be judged separately. And that it is not logical to stick to the ways of our fore-fathers in the face of truth!
May Allah make this Ramadan the best Ramadan in our entire lives
AN-NOOR MASJID KHUTBAH IBB WAY WUSE II ABUJA  26-05-2017:
WELCOME TO THE MONTH OF RAMADAN
O people! Fear Allah your Lord, worship Him and thank Him on his blessings upon you; praise Him and appreciate His blessings upon you of the seasons of goodness that occur repeatedly every year, so that you gain through them grace and favor repeatedly.
O Servants of Allah! Indeed it has come to you a great month and a generous season, good deeds are multiplied in it and sins are greatly heinous in it. It is the month of Ramadan that Quran was revealed in it, it is the month of fasting and night prayers, a month of charity and piety, a month whose beginning is full of mercy, whose middle is full of forgiveness and whose end is full of emancipation from the hell.
Ramadan O brothers is a month in which Allah has blessed the nation of Muhammad with (peace be upon him) and has granted her five privileges He had not given any other nation. These privileges are:
1. The khuloof (smell) of the mouth of a fasting person is sweeter in the Sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk.
2. The angels keep praying to Allah to forgive them (i.e. those who are fasting), until they break their fast.
3. Allah decorates Jannah (paradise) every day saying to it, 'My pious slaves are about to be relieved of their burdens and sufferings and enter you'.
4. Devils are chained in this month, so they cannot achieve what they usually achieve (at other times).
5. The believers' sins are forgiven by the last night of Ramadan.
Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. Also, whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. Ramadan is a month in which the doors of paradise are opened and the doors of hell are closed. It is narrated in Bukhari and Muslim that the messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Allah Said, every act by the son of Adam will be rewarded between ten and seven hundred fold. Allah said: ‘Except fasting, for it is for Me and I shall reward for it for he gave up his desires, his food and his drink for My Sake. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord.”
O servants of Allah! Verily the month of Ramadan is a month you should take advantage of and profit from. You should take advantage of it through
worship, frequent prayer and
recitation of Quran, zhikr (remembrance of Allah),
forgiving people, and
goodness. Clear all enmity
and hatred from among you because People's deeds are
presented before Allah on
Mondays and Thursdays, and then every slave (of Allah) is granted forgiveness (of minor sins) if he does not associate anything with Allah in worship. But the person in whose heart there is rancor against his brother, will not be pardoned. With regard to them, it is said twice: 'Hold these two until they are reconciled.
Increase in this holy month your Istigfar, shahada (testifying that there is no deity that deserves worship except Allah), asking Allah the
paradise and seeking refuge with Allah from hell . You also should be keen of dua
(supplication) at the time of iftar (breaking fast) because it is stated in an authentic hadith that the fasting person has at the time of iftar a chance of a supplication that doesn’t get rejected.
We should know that fasting was ordained so that we get beautified with piety and for us to deprive our bodies from what Allah has prohibited. Therefore, we are to abstain from all taboos like fraud, oppression, cheating, reducing the scale and weighing balance, depriving rights, looking at haram, and
listening to forbidden songs; because listening to forbidden songs reduces the reward of fasting person. We should also abstain from all ill talks like lie, backbiting, gossip, insults and verbal abuse , even if somebody insults or verbally abuses you, you should say: “I am fasting” and don’t respond/reply with abuse or insult.
O Muslim! You should not make your fasting days look like your normal days, the prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions and does not abandon foolishness, Allah is not in need of his leaving food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his FASTING).”
Finally, the month of Ramadan is a school for renewing Iman (faith), polishing conducts, sharpening lives, reforming souls, and adjusting instincts. Ramadan is an institution of
curbing lust/desire . Ramadan is a month which you and I should understand the reality of fasting and its secrets, learn its etiquettes and its
provisions, spend its days and nights in pious deeds, guard
your fasting from shortages and nullifiers, renew your repentance and fulfill its conditions; Allah might overlook your sins as a result and count you among those He gives Rahma (mercy), those that He emancipates from fire.
May Allah count us among those that He will grant Aljannah and emancipate from fire in this holy month.
*01 Ramadhaan 1438*
*27 May 2017*
*Saturday يوم السبت*
_Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه ) reports that_
_Rasulullah (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said:_
“During the fast, one should not engage in obscene talk or act in an ignorant manner by shouting and yelling. If anyone hurls abuse at you or swears you, or fights with you, then you should (respectfully) say ‘I am fasting’.   *(بخاري)*
Brother Osman
*01 RAMADAN 1438.
27 MAY 2017, SATURDAY. AN AYAH A DAY HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND ISLAM, INCREASES YOUR FAITH, PROTECTS YOU AGAINST EVIL & BRINGS YOU CLOSER TO ALLAH*.
01. In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
02. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
03. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
04. Owner of the Day of Judgement.
05. You Alone we worship & You Alone we ask for help.
06. Guide us to the straight path/way.
07. The path of those whom You have favoured, not the path of those who earned Your Anger nor of those who go astray.
*QURAN CHAPTER 01 vs 1-7*.
  *RULINGS OF FASTING*.
Those who are not able to fast, such as the elderly man/woman (past age off child bearing), may break their fast & instead feed a needy person for every day they missed. This is due to their falling under the saying of Allah: *And as for those who cannot fast (because of difficulty) they may feed a needy person (for each day missed)*. Anas Ibn Maalik (May Allah be pleased with him), reported that he was weak one year & could not fast. So he made a bowl of porridge & called thirty needy people & fed them." *reported by Ad-Daraqutnee*.
If a pregnant woman or a breastfeeding woman fears for herself or for her child, she may break her fast & instead feed a needy person for each day missed. This is based on her falling under the generality of the ruling found in the previous ayah. These two types of women do not have to make up for the missed days of fasting (i.e. by fasting the missed days after feeding the needy).
*BROTHERS & SISTERS, PLS LET US PERFORM OUR 5 DAILY SALLAT IN JAMAT, PAY OUR ZAKAT & CHANGE OUR BAD LIFESTYLE IN & AFTER RAMADAN, ALSO MAKE DUA FOR OUR LATE DAD, MUM & ALL DECEASED*.
The Arabic word ‘Islam’ means ‘submission’, and is derived from a word meaning ‘peace’.  As such, the religion of Islam teaches that in order to achieve true peace of mind and surety of heart, one must submit to God and live according to His Divinely revealed Law.
Islam is not a new religion because ‘submission to the will of God’, i.e. Islam, has always been the only acceptable religion in the sight of God.  For this reason, Islam is the true ‘natural religion’, and it is the same eternal message revealed through the ages to all of God’s prophets and messengers.  The main message of all the prophets has always been that there is only One True God and He alone is to be worshipped.  These prophets start with Adam and include Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them all.  God says in the Holy Quran:
“We did not send before you (O Muhammad) any messenger but We revealed to him: ‘none has the right to be worshipped except I, therefore worship Me.’” (Quran 21:25)
However, the true message of these prophets was either lost or got corrupted over time.  Even the most recent books, the Torah and the Gospel were adulterated and hence they lost their credibility to guide the people to the right path.  Therefore 600 years after Jesus, God revived the lost message of previous prophets by sending the Prophet Muhammad with His final revelation, the Holy Quran, to all of mankind.  Since the Prophet Muhammad was the final prophet, God Himself has promised to preserve His last revealed words so that it is a source of guidance for all humanity till the Last Day.  It is now imperative for everyone to believe and follow this final message from God.  God Almighty says in the Quran:
“We have not sent you (O Muhammad) but to all mankind as a giver of good news and as a warner, but most people do not know.” (Quran 34:28)
 “Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.” (Quran 3:85)
The word “Muslim” means one who submits to the will of God, regardless of his/her race, nationality or ethnic background.  Hence, any person who is ready to submit to the will of God is eligible to become a Muslim.
Benefits of Converting to Islam
There are many benefits of converting to Islam.  Some of them are:
•      One forms a personal and direct relationship with God by worshipping Him alone, without the need of intermediaries.  One feels this personal relationship and is aware that God knows everything and is there to assist him/her.
•      A person realizes the true purpose of his or her life, which is to recognize God and follow His commandments.
•      A person is provided with a light, which guides him/her through life.  The religion of Islam has answers to all situations, and one will always know the right steps to take in all aspects of life.
•      One finds true happiness, tranquility, and inner peace.
•      Upon converting to Islam, all of one’s previous sins are forgiven, and one starts a new life of piety and righteousness.  And as a Muslim, when one makes a mistake thereafter, he/she can always repent to God who forgives the sins of those who repent to Him sincerely.  There are no intermediaries or created beings to make confessions to.
•      One achieves salvation from Hellfire, which all prophets have warned against.
•      The greatest benefit is that a Muslim is promised by God the reward of eternal Paradise (Heaven).  Those who are blessed with Paradise, will live eternally in bliss without any sort of sickness, pain or sadness.  God will be pleased with them and they will be pleased with Him.  Even the lowest in rank among the dwellers of Paradise will have ten times the like of this world, and they will have whatever they desire.  In fact, in Paradise there are pleasures that no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and no mind has ever thought of.  It will be a very real life, not spiritual only, but physical as well.
To know more about some of the benefits in converting to Islam, you may read this article “The Benefits of Converting to Islam (3 parts)”.
How to Convert to Islam - The Testimony of Faith (Shahada)
Becoming a Muslim is a simple and easy process.  All that a person has to do is to say a sentence called the Testimony of Faith (Shahada), which is pronounced as:
I testify “La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasoolu Allah.”
These Arabic words mean, “There is no true god (deity) but God (Allah), and Muhammad is the Messenger (Prophet) of God.”  Once a person says the Testimony of Faith (Shahada) with conviction and understanding its meaning, then he/she has become a Muslim.
The first part, “There is no true deity but God,” means that none has the right to be worshipped but God alone, and that God has neither partner nor son.  The second part means that Muhammad was a true Prophet sent by God to humankind.
To be a Muslim, one should also:
- Believe that the Holy Quran is the literal word of God, revealed by Him.
- Believe that the Judgment Day (Resurrection Day) is true and will come.
- Believe in the prophets that God sent and the books He revealed, and in His angels.
- Accept Islam as his/her religion.
- Not worship anything nor anyone except God.
It is that easy!  To hear the Testimony (Shahada), click here or click on “Live Help” for immediate assistance by chat.
Some Common Misconceptions
Some people may postpone their conversion to Islam, though they believe it to be the true religion of God, due to some misconceptions.  They may think that things like changing their name, knowing some Arabic, informing others of their conversion, knowing some Muslims, or not having committed many sins, are conditions for conversion – however the reality is that none of these are valid excuses for delaying the conversion.
If you would like to learn more about these and other similar misconceptions, please read the article, “I want to be a Muslim but... Myths about Converting to Islam (3 parts)”.
For Those Not Yet Convinced
Islam claims to be the true way to God.  What makes one religion valid over other ideologies is the proofs it offers for its truthfulness.  Hence, one needs to look at these proofs, weight them and take an informed decision.  One needs to be sincere in one’s endeavour and above all seek the help of the Almighty to guide him/her to the right path.
If a person is still not convinced of the truthfulness of Islam, then he/she can further look at the proofs Islam offers.  Islam offers overwhelming proofs of its truthfulness and is the only religion that completely appeals to common sense.
Some of the proofs Islam offers are: the scientific proofs in the Quran, the miracles performed by the Prophet Muhammad and the prophesies of his coming in previous scriptures, the foretold events mentioned in the Quran that later came to pass, the unmet challenge of the Quran to bring even a chapter like it, and the divine wisdom in the laws and teachings of Islam that cover all aspects of life.  To learn more about the proofs of Islam, please check the articles under this section, “Evidence Islam is Truth”.
If you would like to learn more about Islam and its fundamental beliefs and practices, then please refer to the article “What is Islam? (4 parts)”.
Our everlasting life in the Hereafter depends on what faith we choose to follow in this transient life, hence let us give this struggle the priority it deserves
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FASTING
1. When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of paradise are opened, the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained. (Al-Bukhari 1898, Muslim 1079)
2. Every Muslim must make intention before fajr to fast(for an obligatory fast). Intention is not uttered. It is determination in the mind and should not be done with audible wordings. (Al Bukhari 1, Abu Dawood 2454)
3. Fasting is NOT just abstaining from eating and drinking, it is also refraining from vain speech and foul language. If one is verbally abused, he should say 'I am fasting' (Muslim 1151)
4. Taking the pre-dawn meal (Sahuur) is a BLESSING. Every Muslim is expected to take the meal EVEN if with a mouthful of water. (Al Bukhari 1923, Ahmad 44)
5. It is the Sunnah to DELAY the Sahuur and HASTEN to break the fast as soon as the sun sets. (Al Bukhari 1921, Muslim 1099)
6. If one hears the call to prayer WHILE still eating the Sahuur, he should not stop eating, rather he should finish his food. (Abu Dawud 2350)
7. Whosoever does not give up speaking falsely and acting on lies and evil actions, Allaah does not care for his abstaining from eating and drinking. (Al Bukhari 1903)
8. The Messenger of Allah used to break his fast BEFORE magrib prayer with 3 fresh dates, if there were no fresh dates, he would eat 3 dry dates, if there were no dry dates, he would take 3 draughts of water. (Abu Dawud 2349)
9. Whoever provides a fasting person something with which to break his fast, he will earn the same reward as the person without the person's reward being reduced. (At-tirmidhi 807)
10. It is PERMISSIBLE for a fasting person to bath or pour over his head to relief him of the hotness of the sun or of thirst. (Abu dawud 2365)
11. If somebody eats or drinks FORGETFULLY while fasting, he should complete his fast, for what he has eaten or drunk been given to him by Allaah. (Al Bukhari 1933, Muslim 1155)
12. Zakaatul fitr is OBLIGATORY on every muslim, old & young, slave & free, male & female. One Sa'a (approx. 3kg) of food items should be given out before people go out for the 'Eid prayer. (Al Bukhari 579/2, Muslim 2159)
13. The Messenger of Allaah never proceeded(for prayer) on the day of 'Eid ul fitr unless he had eaten some odd number of dates. (Al Bukhari 73/2)
14. We should put on our BEST garments and chant Adhkaar TO & FRO the Eid ground. (Al Bukhari 88,89,102/2)
15. On the day of Eid, the Messenger of Allaah used to return (after offering the Eid prayer) through a way DIFFERENT from that by which he went. (Al Bukhari 102/2).
16. Whoever observes fast in Ramadan and also fasts for six days in Shawwal, the reward of a whole year fast is recorded for him. (Muslim 2614/6)
RAMADAN KAREEM‼
Ramadan Has Arrived
Rejoice and be glad the month has come
The world awaits its arrival
Lots of preparation here and there
What has made you so special like this
The month in which Shaytan is chained
Widely opened is the gate of Paradise
Tightly closed is the gate of hell
Muslim fast therein from dawn to dusk
As an injunction from the Almighty Allah
Shunning all evil acts
Engaging in all sorts of goods as ibadah
Striving generously in the cause of Allah
The first ten days is for His blessings;
Seek the blessings of Allah therein
The second ten is for forgiveness;
Seek His forgiveness in it
For he would forgive you your past sins
The third part of it is full of His mercies;
Therein is a night better than a thousand months
Where He sends His angels down on earth
Saying peace be upon you till dawn
So special indeed you are
Al-Qur'an The manual of life (Qur'an) is revealed in thee
For mankind to follow and not eschew
Muslims are advised to read a lot
Countless of lessons Muslims learn in thee
To be conscious of Allah and deny ourselves
To sympathize with less endured fellows
To obey Allah and His apostle
To cultivate peace, brotherhood and endurance
To spend generously with our soul and wealth
And the peak of all, to have piety
All these have nothing to enrich Allah
Nor does it subdue His Majesty
Only to make us better believers
Who are conscious of returning to Allah
To account for our deeds
O Muslims! Let us rejoice
The blessed month has arrived!
*RAMADHAN🌹💎*
Ramadhan *became  obligatory  in  the  second  year  of  Hijrah.*
  So  the  Prophet  (sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallaam) *fasted  for  9  years  and  fasting  went  through  two  stages.*
💎 *The  first*  stage  was  that  a  person  was  given  a  choice  between  fasting  and  feeding  a  poor  person,  with  fasting  being  more  preferred.
💎 *The  second*  stage  was  fasting  without  the  choice  as  is  stated  in  the  Saheehayn  on  the  authority  of  Salama  bin  Al  ak-wa  (RA)  that  when  the  verse
💦 *“For  those  who  can  do  it  (With  hardship),  is  a  ransom,  the  feeding  of  one  that  is  indigent”*  was  revealed,  that  whoever  didn’t  want  to  fast  would  feed  a  person,  until  the  following  verse  abrogated  the  original  verse  by  saying,  *💦“whoever  of  you  lives  to  see  this  month  shall  fast  throughout  it;  but  he  that  is  ill,  or  on  a  journey,  [shall  fast  instead  for  the  same]  number  of  other  days.”*
  So  Allah  made  it  obligatory  without  giving  a  choice.
📌 The  fasting  is  not  obligatory  until  it  is  certain  the  beginning  of  the  month  has  been  reached,  and  there  is  no  fasting  before  the  month  begins,  as  the  Prophet  (sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallaam)  said, 💦 *“None  of  you  should  fast  a  day  or  two  before  Ramadan  except  for  a  man  who  customarily  fasts.  He  should  fast  that  day.”* (Bukhari)
📌 And  the  beginning  of  the  month  is  determined  in *two  ways.*
🌻 *The  first  way*,  is  by *seeing  the  new  moon* as  Allah  says,
 💎 *“Whoever  of  you  lives  to  see  this  month  should  fast  it”*  and  the  saying  of  the  Prophet  (sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallaam), *“If  you  see  the  new  moon  then  fast.*”  (Agreed  upon)
👌 It  is  not  a  condition  that  everyone  has  to  personally  see  the  new  moon,  if  someone  trustworthy  witnesses,  then  it  is  obligatory  on  everyone  to  fast.👌👌👌👌👌👌
❌ COMMON MISTAKES IN RAMADAN 🌙
1. Drinking
Milkshakes made with syrups etc on a daily basis
- Why: It contains high amounts of sugar, additives and colourants
- Solution: If you have to, drink it twice a week maximum
2. Drinking large amounts of water at iftaar time
- Why: Filling the stomach with water is more strenuous to it than with food.
- Solution: have a few sips at iftaar then a glass after every two hours.
3. Exercising directly after iftaar.
- Why: the body's blood flow is concentrated around the stomach at that time.
- Solution: Exercise after two hours of eating to ease digestion.
4. Chewing and swallowing food fast.
- Why: chewing food slowly can speed up digestion and help maintain your weight
5. Having dessert directly after iftaar
- Why: they make you drowsy and sleepy
- Solution: leave at least a two hour gap between iftaar and dessert to stay fresh and awake for ishaa and taraweeh prayers
6. Consuming foods with high amounts of sodium
- Why: Sodium triggers thirst through out the fasting hours of the day
- Solution: instead, eat foods that are high in potassium, they retain water and supress your thirst.
# Bananas are high in potassium. A banana at Suhoor time can control your thirst level through out the day.
# Best sources of potassium for Suhoor time:
- bananas
- milk
- dates
- avocados
- dried peaches
- pistachios
- pumpkin
- peas
- dark chocolate
# Worst choices for Suhoor:
- biryani
- kebab
- pizza
- fast food in general
- cheese
- haleem
# Best choices for Suhoor:
- potato
- rice
- dates
- whole grain bread
# Drinking lots of water at suhoor is important, but not as much as drinking it through out your non-fasting hours.
May we witness this forthcoming Ramadan with sound health -
Sunnats of Friday
Author : Alsy Taqiya Comments : 0
            "Dear Diary, hari ini aku merasa sangat senang, entah mengapa :D Pagi-pagi ku bangun dengan udara segar saat ku buka jendela kamar. Mataku terbelalak ke meja belajar, melihat nasi goreng, salad buah, dan jus alpukat sudah siap untuk disantap. Pasti ibu sengaja menyiapkan pagi-pagi ini untukku. Wajar saja, kemarin aku nggak makan malam karena kebawa bad mood gara-gara berantem sama kak Shafira. Ughh..  jahat pol!! Lalu, ku kunci pintu kamarku, memastikan agar kakak nggak ngganggu dan agar kucingku tidak masuk kamar dan melas-melas minta makan. Haha... perfect!" tulis Sheila di buku hariannya.
            "Dok! Dok! Dok! Sheilaa.. cepetan buka pintunya!!" kakakku yang sangat amat super duper menjengkelkan, membuatku kaget setengah mati sampai tersedak saat ku cicipi suapan pertama.
            "Uhuk! Uhuk! Bentar ta, kak!! nggak tau apa, kalo aku lagi enak-enak breakfast?!" bentak Sheila dengan memasang muka kecut di depan kakaknya.
            "Cih, jangan sok bule, lu! Itu tuh, ada Barbie film kesukaan lu!" kata Shafira yang menunjuk ke arah TV. Sheila pun cepat-cepat keluar kamar, takut ketinggalan serial episode Barbie, yang selama ini lama tak muncul di TV.
            "Horee, ada Barbie! Lo... tapi mana kak? Kok nggak ada?" Sheila mencoba untuk mengganti-ganti channel TV. Ia tampak seperti orang kebingungan karena tak dapat menemukan film kesukaannya.
            "Hahahaha! Satu monyet telah tertipu, maafkan aku, kasihan deh luu ♪!!" tipu Shafira pada adiknya dengan tertawa terlingkal-pingkal. Sheila pun marah.
            "Iiiihh.... dasar kak Fir'aun!! Awas ya! Sheila nggak mau percaya lagi sama kakak!" Sheila pun mencakar pipi kakaknya karena telah membuatnya kesal.
            "Aaaaau! Sakit tauk! Huh, biarin aja, salahmu sendiri yang kemarin ngasih banyak garam ke jusku!" bentak Shafira ke adiknya. Adiknya menangis dan mengadu ke ibunya.
            "Huaa... mama... kak Shafira nakal.."
            "Shafira! Kamu apakan adikmu sampai pipinya merah semua gini?! Kalian ini... setiap hari bertengkar saja! Shafira! Kamu itu sebagai kakak harus jadi contoh yang baik ke adikmu! Cepetan maaf ke adik!" pinta ibu mereka.
            "Lo, tapi kok aku Maa? Seharusnya adik dulu dong, adik yang masukin garam ke jusku dulu, Maa!!" kata Shafira tak mau kalah.
            "Nggak ada tapi-tapian!! Cepat maafan!" kata sang ibu. Dengan terpaksa, Shafira mengulurkan tangannya untuk minta maaf ke adiknya, namun ia tak ikhlas.
            "Maaf!" kata Shafira singkat.
            "Huh!" balas adiknya, dengan mengulurkan tangannya pula.
***
            Huh, gitu deh. Gua benci sama adik gua sendiri. Setiap hari selalu aja jadi trouble-maker hidup gua. Yang nyoret-nyoretin tugas PRku lah, nambahin garam ke minumanku lah, ngotorin seragamku lah, nyembunyiin sepatu sekolahku lah, matiin alarmku lah, ahh pokoknya banyak banget! Karena itu, aku jadi sering dimarahin guruku karena terlambat, cuma gara-gara nyariin sepatu sebelah kiriku yang diumpetin adik. Hah, adik? Sebenernya males gua manggil dia sebagai adik. Tapi karena dipaksa sama ibu, jadi gua harus gitu. Pokoknya males banget ngakuin berdarah daging sama dia! Disuruh ngambilin kacamataku yang ketinggalan aja ogah. Harusnya kan sang adik berbakti pada kakaknya, kan? Dan ujung-ujungnya waktu aku ngerjain adik dikit aja, gua yang kena marah ibu! Aku lagi! Aku lagi! Adik nggak pernah dimarahin ibu, padahal adik yang memulai perang! Hiiihhh dunia ini serasa gak adil! Namun, aku tetap sayang sama ibuku alias mamaku karena beliau adalah sosok ibu yang tangguh, peduli, dan penuh kasih sayang.
*Sore harinya...*
            "Bu, Fira pamit dulu, ya. Mau ke rumah Salsa untuk ambil buku. Assalamu'alaikum!" kataku sambil mencium tangan ibuku.
            "Wa'alaikumsalam. Iya... hati-hati di jalan!" balas ibu. Aku pun bergegas mengambil sepeda ontel kesayanganku, dan meluncur ke rumah temanku yang namanya Salsa. Yap, seperti biasanya, aku yang bisa dibilang ceroboh sering meninggalkan buku pelajaran seusai kerja kelompok.
            "Tok! Tok! Tok! Sal...sa..." panggilku di depan pintu yang masih tertutup.
            "Kreeek..." suara pintu membuka dengan perlahan dan ku lihat, loo.. tadi siapa ya yang buka ? eh, ternyata yang buka adiknya Salsa yang tingginya jauh lebih pendek dariku.
            "Eh, ada kak Fira... silahkan masuk kak, tunggu mbak Salsa ya, dia masih mandi." kata Fatimah, adik kecil Salsa yang sangat sopan.
            "Assalamu'alaikum." kataku dengan memasuki ruang tamu perlahan.
            "Wa'alaikum salam. Duduk dulu ya, kak." balas Fatimah. Shafira pun melihat sekeliling foto di ruang tamu. Di sana, terpajang foto besar yang bergambarkan Salsa dan adiknya yang terlihat saling rukun dan akur dengan senyuman cantik mereka berdua. Di samping foto itu pun, Fira melihat rajutan halus yang tidak asing lagi karya Fatimah yang bergambar dua bunga cantik. Di pojok foto tertuliskan 'untuk kak Salsa yang tersayang. Selamat ulang tahun yang ke-16 ya!' Shafira pun terbayang dengan sosok adiknya. Ia sempat terharu dengan foto dan lukisan itu. Tak lama kemudian, datanglah Fatimah yang sedang membawa tiga cangkir sirup dan sekotak kue brownies.
            "Silahkan dimakan kuenya dan diminum sirupnya, ya kak!" kata Fatimah dengan senyum lebarnya. Shafira pun kagum pada adiknya Salsa. Ia pun meminum sirup yang telah dibuatkan oleh Fatimah.
            "Makasih ya, dik. Hmmm... manisnya pas. Apa sirup ini kamu yang buat?" tanya Fira.
            "Hehe... iya, kak. Syukurlah kalau manisnya pas." balas Fatimah. Mendengar itu, Fira pun ingin bertanya pada Fatimah. Sebuah pertanyaan yang ingin sekali ia tanyakan.
            "Dik, kakak mau tanya. Kenapa sih kamu kok mau nyiapin makanan dan minuman ini untuk aku? Padahal aku kan tamunya kakakmu?" tanya Fira.
            "Tamu kakakku itu tamuku juga, kak. Ini sudah biasa kok. Saat aku kedatangan tamu dari temanku, kak Salsa juga membantuku untuk menyiapkan jajanan buat tamuku. Saat aku dalam keadaan susah pun, kak Salsa sering membantuku. Pokoknya, kita tu saling membantu dalam keadaan apa pun." jawab Fatimah dengan bangganya. Ia terlihat senang sekali mempunyai kakak yang bernama Salsa. Mendengar itu, Fira pun merasa bersalah pada adiknya. Ia teringat pada kata guru Fisikanya bahwa hal yang dialaminya itu berkaitan dengan Hukum Newton ke-3 yakni 'sebab-akibat'.
            "Selama ini aku nggak pernah menunjukkan rasa peduli pada dik Sheila. Aku jadi tahu bahwa apabila aku baik ke adikku, care, dan mau menolongnya, pasti dia akan care, nggak usil, menolongku, dan baik ke aku," kata Shafira dalam hati. Rupanya, ia telah sadar sekarang.
            "O iya, kak... ini buku Biologi kakak. Tadi, katanya kak Salsa mendadak disuruh ibu ke pasar lewat gerbang belakang, lalu ia menitipkan buku ini ke aku. Maaf ya kak, kak Salsa harus segera ke pasar soalnya nanti mau ada acara di rumah ini... Jadi ya harus beli ini itu untuk cepat dimasak." gumam Fatimah.
            "Ah, nggak-papa, kok. Kalau begitu, makasih ya, cantik! Kakak pamit dulu. Assalamu'alaikum!" kata Shafira pada Fatimah. Fatimah pun pipinya memerah.
            "Hehe... sama-sama, kak! Wa'alikumsalam. Hati-hati ya, kak! Kapan-kapan main kesini lagi lo, ya...." pinta Fatimah dengan senyuman dari bibir kecilnya.
            "Pasti dong! Dadaa~"
            "Daa~"
            Shafira pun bergegas menuju toko boneka barbie. Di sana, ia belikan adiknya sebuah boneka barbie cantik, berambut pirang, dan bermata biru. Ia akan memulai hubungan baik pada adiknya. Ia yakin, adik akan merasa senang. Ia pun bertekad untuk menjadi contoh kakak yang baik. Lalu, ia pun memancal pedal sepedanya menuju ke rumahnya. Sesampainya, ia buat kejutan ke adiknya.
            "Ciluuuk... Baaa!" Shafira menutup mata adiknya dan langsung melihatkannya sebuah boneka Barbie kesukaan adiknya.
            "Barbie!!! Hore... makasih, kak Fira... Sheila sayang kakak!" Sheila langsung memeluk kakaknya dengan penuh tawa yang selama ini jarang Fira lihat. Fira pun ikut senang dan mengelus rambut adiknya. Dia terkejut bahwa adiknya akan memeluknya. Hari demi hari telah berganti. Suasana rumah jadi semakin nyaman. Tak ada tengkar, suara teriak, dan luka. Kini, Shafira dan Sheila adalah sepasang kakak-adik yang ceria dan saling membantu. \(^-^)/
Catatan : Sesama saudara, harusnya saling rukun. Sejatinya, mereka adalah orang yang mau mengerti keadaan kita. Kita pun harus menghargai dan menolong mereka. (^∇^)
Saling Membantu
            Namaku Phei. Tinggal di sebuah desa pinggiran di Thailand. Orang tuaku bekerja sebagai penulis. Huh, entah mengapa, aku tidak begitu tertarik dalam menulis. Tak sama dengan adik-adikku yang setiap hari selalu meluangkan waktunya untuk menulis. Rumah adalah neraka bagiku. Setiap hari, aku selalu dipaksa untuk menulis oleh orangtuaku, terutama ibuku. Aku dibeda-bedakan kedua orang tuaku dengan adikku lain. Kesal. Sangat kesal. Aku bingung, mengapa mereka tertarik dalam menulis. Padahal, hasil karya tulisan mereka seringkali ditolak mentah oleh penerbit buku, tapi kenapa mereka tetap menyukai pekerjaan yang membosankan itu?!
            Bahkan, ayahku yang telah kehilangan kedua tangannya sejak aku kecil, masih memaksakan menulis dengan kakinya. Aku yang memiliki ayah seperti itu, menjadi bahan olok-olok temanku di sekolah. Terpaksa ku tak mengakui bahwa dia adalah ayahku. Walaupun ia sayang padaku, aku membencinya. Beda dengan ibuku yang justru semakin galak tiap harinya. Di saat aku butuh support, ia malah men-judgeku dengan membeda-bedakan adikku yang lain yang sok rajin menulis novel di depan orang tuaku. Cih, tapi ya memang rajin sih.
            “Memang tidak ada kah pekerjaan lain selain menulis?” kataku pada mereka setiap mereka memaksaku menulis. Setiap ku coba untuk menulis, aku tidak memiliki imajinasi yang tajam sehingga yang ku tulis hanya kata-kata bodoh yang tak bermakna. Aku pun juga merasa aneh dengan sebuah pena yang diberikan oleh orang tuaku. Saat aku tidur, pena itu selalu mengikutiku dan berubah menjadi sebuah pena yang amat besar dan tajam yang selalu memberikan aku selembar kertas dan memaksaku untuk menulis dengan pena itu sendiri. Saat itulah, suara aneh menghantuiku berulang-ulang kali. “Menulislah nak, karena dengan itu kau akan mengerti…”
            “Mau kemana? Pakai jaket dulu nak, di luar sangat dingin!” Ayah berbicara denganku sambil menyeruput kopi yang disuapkan oleh adikku. |
            “Tidak, ayah! Aku bukan anak kecil lagi. Aku mau ke mana saja ke tempat yang ku suka! Aku muak di sini!” balasku mentah pada ayah. Aku melangkah ke arah yang ingin kutuju. Di tengah jalan, aku bertemu dengan sekumpulan temanku yang menatapku sinis,
            “Hei lu, anak orang cacat! Mana bakat loe menulis pake kaki? Ha-Ha-Ha! Dasar ga tau diri!” Mereka mengolok-olokku dengan membawa-bawa ayahku.
            “Siapa kalian! Enak aja, aku tak punya ayah cacat! Minggir!” kataku spontan.
            “Halah, anak orang kismin aja, HAHA! Lihat, HP gue baru nih. Gak kepingin? Ini HP bersistem paling canggih ‘n gak kalah nge-trend sama HP jadulmu!” tunjuk Roy, anak orang terkaya di desa itu.
            Aku pun tak menghiraukan kata-kata mereka dan berjalan terus untuk menemukan tempat yang cocok dengan mood-ku sekarang. Tetapi, aku tetap terbayang oleh kata pedas mereka di sepanjang jalan. Rasanya, aku tak menerima kepahitan hidupku ini.
            “Tidakkah ada yang senasib denganku?!” Sejenak ku melewati rumah gubuk tua yang sangat jelek dan di dalamnya terlihat ada sosok ibu, ayah, dan seorang anak yang sangat kurus kering kerontang dibanding dengan keadaan keluargaku. Aku menyadari bahwa di sana ada banyak orang yang lebih parah nasibnya daripada aku. Tetapi, tetap saja. Kata-kata mereka yang telah membuat telingaku panas tetap saja melintas di pikiranku. Tanpa sadari, aku telah berjalan jauh ke tengah kota.
            ”Aku benci pulang ke rumah! Aku benci mereka! Benci orang tua! Benci semua! Benci diriku!” Aku tak tahu arah. Ku tersesat. Tanpa ku sadari, aku telah berada di tengah jalan, dan…
            “HONK-HONK~ ! HONK-HONK~!!”
            “Brakk!”
***
            “Di mana ini? Aku di mana? Siapa kau?” ku berkata lemah pada seorang laki-laki muda yang mengenakan jas putih dan membawa peralatan medis.
            “Arrrgh.. sakit. Ada apa dengan tangan kiriku?” kataku dalam hati.
Aku dihantui dengan beribu-ribu pertanyaan terhadap aku sendiri. Lalu aku menangis. Ku sadari bahwa aku telah tertabrak truk tadi siang. Merasa kesakitan, ku coba untuk tidur tanpa kata terucap lagi. Aku bermimpi. Butiran-butiran debu terpajang jelas ke arahku. Dan pena itu… lagi-lagi muncul di mimpiku. Ayah dan ibu di sana. Mereka menambil pena itu yang nampak patah. Mereka menangis dan terisak dengan kepatahan pena itu yang kemudian mereka simpan. Tiba-tiba ku mendengar jeritan mereka memanggil namaku.
            “Phei… Phei…!! Anakku, Phei…!!” Aku tersontak dan terbangun. Ku rasakan sakit. Ku lihat di luar jendela yang telah gelap. Ternyata, matahari telah berganti bintang. Ku lihat ada dua orang yang duduk di samping kanan dan kiri kasurku. Mereka ayah dan ibuku yang tertidur dengan air mata yang masih berlinang. Ku coba untuk berbicara, namun tak bisa. Kondisiku yang sangat lemah ini membuatku sulit menggerakkan semua anggota badanku termasuk mulutku. Dalam hati ku berkata, “Ayah… ibu… maafkan aku, yang telah membuat kalian semakin susah.”
            Di genggaman tangan ibu kulihat ada sebuah buku berwarna merah marun yang tak pernah ku ketahui sebelumnya. Aku mencoba untuk mengambilnya dengan tangan kananku perlahan-lahan dan dalamnya berjudulkan sepucuk cerita perjalanan hidup ayah dan ibuku. Pada halaman pertama, ku temukan bahwa ayah dan ibu yang sama-sama orang Thailand, bertemu pertama kali di luar negeri, yakni negara Italia saat mereka dipilih menjadi penulis terbaik yang telah mengarang lebih dari 50 buku tentang berbagai macam topik terhangat. Aku salut pada mereka. Di foto tertuliskan “Our Sweet Journey.” Entah mengapa, aku jadi membeku saat melihat foto mereka saat muda. Di halaman itu juga tertuliskan bahwa mereka menikah di sana dan tinggal di Roma selama 5 tahun. Tak disangka, ternyata aku lahir di Roma, Italia. Mengapa aku baru tahu sekarang? Mengapa mereka tak menceritakannya padaku? Aku yang berusia 15 tahun sekarang baru mengerti tempat lahirku. Di halaman itu terdapat fotoku dan ayah ibu yang mencium pipiku. Aku tersentuh dan merasakan kasih sayang mereka yang sangat besar.
            Pada halaman kedua, ada sepatah cerita ayah. Walau tulisannya agak pudar, aku tetap dapat membacanya. Cerita itu menceritakan tentang perjalanan pulang dari Italia.
Minggu, 23 Oktober 1839
Pagi itu basah ditetesi  oleh salju, mengiringi perjalanan pulang kita. Salju terus turun. Tumpukan-tumpukan putih berkilauan di pinggir jalan, membentuk bukit-bukit kecil di sepanjang jalan raya dan jalur pejalan kaki Roma. Tiba-tiba angin kencang datang, pertanda ada badai menghempur. Kita dan Phei yang sedang menaiki mobil mini kala itu khawatir dan memikirkan jalan keluar. Tiba-tiba pohon besar menimpa mobil dan memecah kaca mobil. Segera ku peluk kalian… Ku tak ingin kau dan Phei terluka. Darah bercucuran sekujur tubuhku. Ku tahan sakit meski harus kehilangan kedua tanganku. Bagiku, itu lebih baik daripada kehilangan kedua orang yang sangat kusayangi…”
            Hiks. Aku terisak oleh cerita yang ditulis ayah dengan kakinya karena terlihat jejak kaki di cerita itu. Hiks. Air mata terus bercucuran membasahi pipiku. Ya Tuhan… betapa besarnya pengorbanan ayahku. Aku tak bisa berkata apa-apa. Ku merasa bahwa akulah makhluk terkejam di bumi ini. Ku telah menyakiti perasaan ayahku yang cacat hanya karena ingin menghindari olokan teman-teman. Seharusnya aku bangga pada ayah, yang telah berkorban untukku dan ibu. Padahal di balik semua itu... Hiks.. Aku kejam! Ku pandangi wajah ayahku yang tertidur di samping kananku. Terlihat sosok wajahnya yang lelah. Oh ayah, oh ibu, maafkan Phei yang menambah beban kalian. Segera setelah itu, ku buka halaman ketiga yang menceritakan tentang ayah dibawa ke rumah sakit dan harus mengeluarkan biaya yang sangat besar. Karena itu, kekayaan ayah ibuku yang semula berasal dari kejayaannya sebagai penulis terkenal di seluruh penjuru dunia, habis ludes. Ayah masih bisa diselamatkan di tengah darah yang banyak hilang, tetapi ia harus kehilangan kedua tanganya. Di situ tertuliskan bahwa semenjak kejadian itu, ayah dan ibuku tidak dikenal oleh penulis lainnya karena ketidaksanggupan menerbitkan buku best-seller lagi dan karena terpuruk oleh kemiskinan. Membaca itu, aku jadi kasihan pada ayah dan ibuku. Mata mereka yang walau tertutup, nampak berkas cahaya yang yang tetap ada untukku saat ku terjerat dalam kegelapan.
            Ku buka halaman berikutnya. Di lembaran itu nampak tinta baru yang mungkin saja baru ditulis. Aku terkejut. Ternyata, semenjak kepergianku hari-hari kemarin, ibu telah dinobatkan menjadi penulis tersukses ke-3 di Asia Tenggara. Beliau memenangkan rubrik cerita tentang perang dunia dari zaman ke zaman dan sebuah cerita fiksi yang menginspirasi banyak orang di berbagai kalangan dunia. Tak kusangka. Selama ini, aku memang jarang sekali berkomunikasi dengan ibu. Dari dulu, aku menganggap ibu sebagai orang yang super galak hanya karena ocehannya padaku yang sebenarnya itu adalah nasehat baik untukku. Anak apa aku ini? Ku baru menyadarinya betapa diriku ini telah menyusahkan mereka. Ku teringat keadaanku sekarang, lalu, untuk biaya operasiku, apakah ini akan membuat ibu sedih yang harus merelakan hadiah kejayaannya sebagai penulis terbaik tahun ini? Tak habis ku pikir. Di lubuk hatiku yang sangat dalam ini, ingin rasanya aku membuat mereka tersenyum selama ini. Aku telah bertekad untuk menjadi anak baik dan mencontohkan yang baik pula pada adik-adikku. Aku tak ingin menyusahkan kedua orang tuaku. Aku bangga memiliki ayah dan ibu. Mereka pahlawan sejatiku. Aku tak akan malu pada temanku bila aku anak mereka. Akan ku buat mereka bahagia sebelum malaikat maut menjemput mereka. Aku beruntung masih mempunyai mereka. Aku sangat menyayangi mereka. Oleh karena itu, oh ayah, oh ibu, akan ku rangkai dan ku hias sebuah pena menjadi sebuah buku. Ya, aku ingin meneruskan perjuangan mereka sebagai penulis. Sekali lagi, ku ucapkan dari lubung hatiku, Ayah... Ibu... ku mohon, maafkanlah aku.
Catatan : Hormatilah kedua orang tuamu dan sayangilah mereka. Kita tak pernah bisa menghitung betapa mahalnya jasa dan pengorbanan mereka.
Sebuah Pena
Author : Alsy Taqiya Comments : 0
The cold night comes with a loud thunderstorm outside. Drop by drop of water finally makes the city wet. Dooar! Doooar!!
“Ow yeah! It’s raining cats and dogs,” said Carl while remembering the last English idiom lesson. Then she threw her notebook and continued to spend much time sitting down, watching TV, and really had nothing to do. She enjoyed it everytime.
“Stop being couch potato! Get up and do something productive, my dear Carl!” said Carl’s mother, Mrs. Humbood. She turned off the TV. She didn’t want to let her only daughter to be lazy.
“Please, mum! I’m so bad mood today... and I’m not a lazy girl! I’ve done my homework!” Carl gave her book to her mother so that she can believe her.
“Carl! Listen to your mother! We know that you always spend too much time doing nothing! And this is the final semester, isn’t it? Have you been prepared to face the final exam next week? Don’t go out to spend such useless activity and don’t watch TV over an hour!” Carl’s father showed his anger. But he just wanted the best for his daughter. Then he tried to lower his voice, “Darling, please you go studying now, ok?” Carl just nodded. She went to her room  and began to write such a writing.
“Dear Mum.. Dad...  I just feel like loosing part of the puzzle in my life that makes me confused and what must I do now? Those puzzles are my stars and the moonlight that shines through my yellow room. But then the heavy rains come. Loosing all the memories is too easy in that autumn. I can’t catch the leave...  But now I know... you’re the best mom and dad!"  Then she slipped it in her diary. The rain got heavier. She turned her mobile phone on to listen ‘Kiss The Rain’.
*Some days later...*
“Yep! This is Sunday! Oh no, I’m forget that I can’t go out,” said Carl while holding her mobile phone. Day by day she became so bored to stay at home. However, her parents didn’t allow her to go out. So she texted her friend Kate, to accompany her in the room.
“Cheer up! You’ve had a face like a wet weekend since yesterday. What’s wrong with you, Carl?” Then she told Kate what was happened in this recent days.
“I’m so fed up with being stuck in the house all day. Have you got any idea to change my parent’s mind, Kate?”’ said Carl, frowning her face.
“Hmm... one problem a million solution, isn’t? I suggest you to hear their advice and ask them politely that you wanna go out.” Then, Kate showed her big hug to her bestie. She knew that Carl needed a shoulder to cry on. That’s what are friends for. Carl got up and asked her parents politely to hang out with Kate. “Yes, dear... you may go out but you must be home before at noon, okay?” Hearing it, Carl said, “Alright, mum! Thanks a bunch.”
Carl is very happy now. She promised to herself not to do such useless things again and began to change into the new world. Carl feels like her spirit comes back. Then she thanked to her bestie to always support her and to always be there in joy and sorrow. “What a fresh day this morning!” Since then, she is used to do more productive in her whole examination week.
The graduation school party comes. Carl is very happy when she was declared as one of the top students in that junior high school. Then, she and her friend Kate took some pictures with teachers and friends. They gave a bouquet of flowers to their teacher. They just couldn’t forget how hard her teachers taught her. Then Kate said, “Today is our school graduation party, right? What’s your view on it?” Carl nodded. She said, “Honestly, Kate... I’m jubilant to be declared as the graduate of this school, but besides it, I’m so sad too because we have to leave this colourful school which contains thousand years of memory inside, especially when we used to spend many activity with teacher, friends, and nothing was more beautiful than this. And you know? I have to leave to another city to continue my study next week. Hiks...” Kate didn’t want her bestie torn into tears. She tried to entertain her, and said, “Yeah, me too. I feel the same too.  I know how hard it will be, but listen, you never walk alone. Trust me that parting is not the  end." So saying, Carl showed her smile and said that Kate understands her well.
But, when she heard ‘Kiss The Rain’ on piano that came from that cool boy, she was tearing with joy. “I’m terrified of this. I know it would be changed soon. I’m just a... I’M JUST A... leave that was falling and blown by the strong wind. All it was stay in memory with... that cool-brilliant boy.  The very silly and awkward moments have been proved that I was... I was... No, I won’t say it. It’s impossible. I dream immense to get it. I wanna forget it. So, I’m still here in the RAIN?”
Suddenly, Scott stopped his perform and came to Carl. “Hi, Carl! Let’s play together! I know you can play it too, right?” said him, the cool boy. “Me? What? (oh no... am I dreaming?)” said Carl. “Yeah, come on! I will take my violin. You should play that black and white thing. Are you ready?” added Scott while taking his violin. Slowly but surely, Carl said, “Definitely.”
And .... so it goes. The last encounter gonna be the most precious day she has ever had. She didn’t care what tomorrow will happen. She made sure that today is alright. She is not dreadful of tomorrow. Carl doesn’t know what she feels like. Happy? quiet wrong. Sad? not even. But, she is just having a beautiful butterfly in her stomach!
